Nick Morris, who was on the same deployment with my son Tyler with the Iowa National Guard in 2011, was injured along with three other soldiers on June 7, 2011, when their vehicle was struck by an IED while conducting combat operations in Laghman Province, Afghanistan.
Recently, after one of my readers inquired, I contacted Nick to find out how he's doing in his recovery. He says he's now walking regularly with his prosthetic. He's postponing his jaw surgery until after his and Caroline's wedding ceremony in early May. He's busy working out every afternoon after his therapy and has increased from 165 lbs to 205 lbs.
He says everything is good. He has pain every once and a while, but no complaints! Kudos to Nick and all those who are helping him work hard throughout his recovery!
